Billy, a chartered civil engineer by primary profession is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators with a Master’s degree in construction law and arbitration. He operates an extensive ADR practice, mediation, conciliation, adjudication, and arbitration (Alternative Dispute Resolution) across various sectors ranging from civil / mechanical engineering and construction to environmental and community and planning matters. He also acts as an adviser to the public and construction and property sectors in planning, development, and project management and procurement matters.
Billy has over 40 years technical and commercial experience in Ireland and internationally at senior management level including product development, manufacturing, and international trading. Aside from being an engineer having worked in both the public and private sectors and his site hands -on involvement in construction contracts, dispute minimisation and resolution, he has a special interest in public consultation and effective stakeholder engagement where he has advised public bodies and developers and resolved delicate community conflicts associated with major infrastructure planning and development projects. Billy has published awards, decisions and resolved numerous disputes as a Mediator. He has written and lectured extensively on ADR and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
He is committed to promoting the strategic aims of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a key global player in the promotion of dispute resolution and the enabling and the training of its members for success in that area as well as the promotion of Ireland as an international hub for alternative dispute resolution.
