Corporate and Workplace Investigation Skills Course

 

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators are happy to announce the running of it’s highly acclaimed Corporate and Workplace Investigation Skills Course.

This is a 3-day course to assist Arbitrators, Adjudicators, Mediators and Human Resource Professionals to develop a range of skills to deliver quality investigations in the workplace environment. This course is limited to 12 participants only.

A certificate of completion will be presented by CIArb, Irish Branch to those participants who satisfactorily complete a short written assignment at the end of the training programme

 

Venue: Dublin Dispute Resolution Centre, Distillery Building, Church Street, Dublin 7.

 

Date: 3rd 4th and 5th of March 2020.  Assessment will take place following submission of project work, following full attendance and completion of the course.

 

Eligibility: All qualified Arbitrators, Adjudicators, Mediators and Human Resource Professionals

 

Cost: €1,200 per person. (Easy Payment Plan Available on Request)

OVERVIEW OF COURSE
Overview of the course

The course will feature a highly interactive programme including facilitator-led input, practical exercises such as role-plays, group discussions and case studies.

Employment Issues

The following issues will be addressed during the course:

Grievances Investigation
Appeal Hearing
Dignity at Work-Bullying and Harassment and Sexual Harassment
Disciplinary Hearing and Meetings
Whistleblowing and Protected Disclosures.

 

Aims

Participants will gain:

Understanding of the principles and legal constructs underpinning workplace investigations
Practical skills to conduct formal investigations in the workplace
Knowledge of how to handle difficult casework involving investigations into working relationships
Insight into fairness, rigour and sensitivity
Skills in analysing evidence
Understanding of impartiality
Guidelines on preparing reports.

 
 

 

 
Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

Use the core values of investigation process, within legal requirements
Plan a structure investigation and carry it out effectively, speedily and sensitively
Set up terms of reference in a structured, detailed fashion
Understand the difference between findings and recommendations
Build commitment to the process to gain full participation
Use appropriate questioning techniques
Draw on a wide range of data and informational evidence
Manage interviews fairly and impartially
Create interview statements
Structure an investigation report
Work with difficult/upset interviewees
