Visit of Alexis Mourre, President of the ICC Court of Arbitration to Dublin on May 2nd

Organised by Ian Talbot CEO of Chambers Ireland and the ICC Ireland National Committee.   This Committee includes two delegates each from the CIArb Ireland Branch, the Law Society and the Bar Council.  The breakfast meeting ahead of the event at the DDRC included Mr. Justice Brian McGovern SC, the designated Arbitration Judge at the High Court.

The Meeting was joined by Minister Eoghan Murphy - Minister of State at the Departments of Finance and Public Expenditure & Reform, with special responsibility for Financial Services, eGovernment and Public Procurement.

Presentations were made on:

  • New ICC Rules effective 1 March 2017 and Note to Parties
  • Opening of new ICC Case Management Offices
  • The global arbitration landscape
  • Diversity in arbitration
  • ICC and ISDS
  • Potential impact of Brexit on the arbitration landscape

A meeting followed with Paul Quinn,  Government Chief Procurement Officer and David O’Brien, Construction Advisor at the OGP -  along with James Kinch and colleagues from the CSSO.   Tim Bouchier Hayes (Irish member on the ICC Court of Arbitration),  Anthony Hussey, Gordon Barry and James O’Donoghue represented the branch.
