The Bloomsday Dinner was held in the Stephens Green Hibernian Club on Friday 16th June with the Branch Chairs from Ireland and the UK gathering for their Annual Meeting. Also in attendance were the delegates attending the XI Dublin Forum on International Dispute Resolution organised by Jim Bridgeman, such delegates coming from all over the world.
The Ken McQuillan lecture was held in the Radisson Blu Hotel on Friday 16th June. Professor Dr Nayla Comair-Obeid C.Arb, the current CIArb Worldwide President, gave a talk on Dispute Avoidance and Resolution in Times of Crisis. This event was well attended by CIArb members as well as visitors from the UK.
Organised by Ian Talbot CEO of Chambers Ireland and the ICC Ireland National Committee. This Committee includes two delegates each from the CIArb Ireland Branch, the Law Society and the Bar Council. The breakfast meeting ahead of the event at the DDRC included Mr. Justice Brian McGovern SC, the designated Arbitration Judge at the High Court.

CIArb Ireland has furnished its submissions on the Mediation Bill 2017 to the Department of Justice and Equality.
The 2017 AGM was held on Friday 7th April in the Radisson Blu Hotel. Past Chair Gerard Monaghan gave the opening speech followed by presentations by the Treasurer (John McQuillan) and Honorary Secretary (James O'Donoghue). The new CIArb Ireland website was also launched by Marketing Officer Dan Ibrahim.
CIArb Ireland launches its new website at the 2017 AGM. This new website will include a brand new design look and feel, responsive content to mobile devices, seamless payment options for courses and events, a simplified online services application and a publicly accessible members database for any member who wishes to create their own personal CIArb Ireland profile page. It was constructed to be Google friendly andis fully content managed to give us simple editing control over all website sections, text, photos, videos and search engine optimisation of site pages.
On 18 November 2016 Dublin-based Barrister James Bridgeman was elected by the world-wide membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators to serve as its President in 2018 and as Deputy President in 2017.
James Bridgeman is a practicing Barrister, Chartered Arbitrator, certified mediator and a member of the Ministerial panel of construction adjudicators. He holds practicing certificates as Barrister both in Ireland and in England and Wales. He is in general practice as advocate based at the Law Library Dublin and Lamb Chambers London with a focus on civil and commercial litigation, intellectual property, technology law, arbitration and ADR.
